You seriously have no idea what it feels like to be me.
Next stop on our road trip to southern Bali was Kuta and Legian, both of which reminded us heavily of some of the touristy areas in Florida (South Beach and Panama City specifically). We much preferred the beaches of eastern Bali, where there were clean beaches with few hawkers, cottage- and bungalow-styled hotels, and only a couple dozen tourists in any one area. Kuta, in comparison, is packed with big hotels, chain fast-food restaurants, big-brand shopping, and more hawkers than tourists (fortunately there seems to be a literal legal line in the sand they cannot cross, so you can stay near the water unperturbed).

Au sud de l’île, une immense plage de sable fin s’élance depuis l’aéroport sur des dizaines de kilomètres. C’est le paradis des surfers australiens, qui en ont fait leur lieu de vacances favori.
Bizarrement, ce soir-là, nous n’étions que les deux seuls touristes, entourés d’une marrée d’Indonésiens, qui se photographiaient avec nous, comme s’ils n’avaient jamais vu d’Occidentaux…
